Bita Field Description
Bita Field was discovered by CNL, with the drilling of Bita-1 from April 24 to June 9, 1969 as an exploratory well to a total depth of 9,202ft. The well encountered 5 hydrocarbon bearing sands and was subsequently abandoned as an oil and gas well.
Bita Field is located in the shallow offshore part of OML 95 in water depths of approximately 70 to 80 feet. The block was operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited (“CNL”) as a JV in which CNL has 40% stake and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (“NNPC”) holds 60%. Other fields located in OML 95 include Meren, Parabe, Mesan, Shango, Delta, Ireti, Marun, Ororo and Meta.
